Turda will inaugurate on 16 dec 2019 the new public transport company and the 20 electric buses
TUP – Urban Public Transport Turda is the newly established public transport company, directly subordinated to the Local Council. Turda will provide citizens with civilized transport services.
The 20 electric buses that make up the new company’s fleet have been purchased with European funds and are modernly equipped with video surveillance cameras, special ramps for people with disabilities, air conditioning, Wi-fi and E-Ticketing.

Also, until January, the citizens will be able to circulate with the old subscriptions. Beginning with 2020, electronic cards will be introduced which will be distributed free of charge and will replace the old subscriptions.
All buses are equipped with video surveillance cameras and GPS system to prevent crime and damage.
The modernization of public transport is one of the European projects funded by the European Union on the basis of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, with the aim of significantly reducing pollution and creating a system of urban mobility that is environmentally friendly.
SOR buses were part of the contract signed by Turda City Hall, through Mayor Cristian Matei, with SC ANADOLU AUTOMOBIL ROM S.R.L .
The purchase of electric buses is part of a larger project, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUD), funded by the European Union. In addition to the purchase of electric buses, fast and slow charging stations, the construction of a new bus station, the contract also includes the asphalting of all the main arteries in Turda. The total value of the project, for the 4 urban mobility corridors, is 31,355,430.65 euros.
