Vote in the Senate: Public authorities are required to purchase at least 10% electric and hybrid cars
The project, initiated by Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, proposes to amend Article 5 of the Government Ordinance no. 80/2001 on the establishment of expenditure norms for the public administration authorities and the public institutions as follows: “on the date of entry into force of this law it is mandatory for all the entities stipulated in the present ordinance, which acquires more than 10 cars annually, as a percentage 10% of all of them are electric cars, the unit price of which can not exceed EUR 35,000, including VAT. “
With the initiative signed by the ALDE president and adopted by the Senate, ministries, specialized bodies in the central public administration and subordinated institutions, as well as local and county councils will be stimulated to use electric cars as well, according to a press release.
The proposed changes will help reduce pollution and promote sustainable economic and environmental development.
The Senate has adopted the project as the first notified chamber.
