After Cluj, Turda and Tulcea - Arad City and Baia Mare city are going to buy electric buses.

Baia Mare Municipality launches a wide auction for electric buses and trolleybuses

Baia Mare City has launched a tender worth 70.5 million lei for the purchase of 3 lots of ecological vehicles for public transport in the city. Thus, 21 urban buses with fully lowered floor will be purchased, of which 14 will be 12-meter hybrid buses and 7 will be articulated 18-meter hybrid buses. Further, 6 articulated trolleys, 18 meters, with lowered floor and 6 electric buses of 9 meters, will be purchased. Tenders may be submitted by 27 November and the award must take place no later than 27 March 2019.

Arad City Hall launches the procedures for the purchase of a total of 18 electric buses

At the sitting of October 17, 2018 of the Municipal Local Council was adopted the draft decision no. 361/2018 regarding the approval of the technical and economic indicators and the opportunity study regarding the purchase of electric buses and the initiation of the public procurement procedures - stage I, for awarding the contract for the purchase of 10 electric buses.

As a whole, the project aims at the acquisition by Arad CityHall of a number of 18 new electric buses, non-polluting vehicles, of which 5 medium capacity (12 m) electric buses and 13 low-capacity electric buses (10 m) to replace a part of existing means of transport equipped with Diesel engines operating on urban public transport lines.

The total value of the investment, according to the Opportunity Study, is 8,835,000 euros with VAT or 40,414,824 lei with VAT, and the duration of the investment is 48 months. At present, the Public Transport Company Arad uses a bus park made up of 21 units, with an average age of 15 years, to ensure the public transport of passengers. Buses currently used are mostly wear-resistant, not equipped with air conditioning systems and modern information systems. The bus park used on urban lines was acquired, largely after 2006, when the rehabilitation works of the tram network started. We have purchased both second-hand and new buses (IVECO minibuses).

"The City Hall has developed a concept of clean public transport in Arad. The local council voted for the acquisition of 28 trams, we are now in a tender procedure for them, we have approved the rehabilitation of 20 trams and another 6 trams are modern. At the end of the European funding program, Arad must have a clean fleet to solve the city's need to meet the conditions of an unpolluted city due to traffic generated by public transport. The electric buses to be purchased will be in compliance with the legislation in force as well as with the requirements of the traveling public. These buses must be equally comfortable and safe and reliable and easy to maintain. They also have to be compatible with the existing infrastructure and operating and maintenance conditions in Arad and will have good acceleration and braking performance. Unrestricted access for passengers with reduced mobility will be taken into account and passenger comfort will be ensured. Because the value of the investment is high, it can not be covered only from the budget, and it is necessary to identify new sources of financing. To achieve this, we intend to attract non-reimbursable funds through the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Program , " said Arad Mayor Gheorghe Falcă.
