EU Plug-In Electric Car Market Up 39%

New registrations of passenger plug-in electric cars in Europe increased in February by 39% to some 22,417 units.

The market share amounted to roughly 1.9% for plug-ins. New registrations should grow even faster in March and the following months thanks to the new Nissan LEAF, as indicated by both preliminary data in Norway and manufacturers sales data for all of Europe. However, during the first two months, the market leader is Renault ZOE, which replaced the Volkswagen e-Golf in the #1 spot from January.

Here are the Top 6 (above 1,000 a month):
Renault ZOE – 2,439 / 4,310 YTD
Volkswagen e-Golf – 1,481 / 3,476 YTD
BMW i3 – 1,598 / 3,445 YTD
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – 1,059 / 2,216 YTD
Volkswagen Passat GTE – 1,065 / 2,143 YTD
Nissan LEAF – 1,540 / 2,049 YTD
